I’ve been collaborating from afar with my friend and colleague, Ryan Jenkins (we started the Wonderful Idea Co. together) on some tinkering ideas for young children. Ryan has been experimenting with the Roly-polies in Germany, and he’s made some really fun variations using free, found materials. To test them, he’s been bringing them to his local ‘spielmobil’, a sort of mobile, pop-up playground for children. He just wrote a really nice blog post about his experience here.
These are a couple of the Roly-polies that came out of those experiments. I love the found materials, and it’s so fun to see Roly-polies out in the wild.
